Abstract The exact calculations of the stress and strain distributions based on controlling equations for a forming process with large deformation are often difficult. To circumvent such difficulties, some analytical methods upper-bound analysis slip-line field theory have been established by making number simplifying assumptions regarding material properties modes. In this work an model was successfully developed to predict flow pattern maximum loads Equal Channel Angular Pressing (ECAP) die circular cross-section intersecting channel angle 120°. Based model, power dissipated all frictional velocity discontinuity surfaces were determined optimized in order force as function geometry plastic behavior. validate ECAP produced used determine experimental load-displacement curves AA6061-T6 specimens different lengths. A good correlation between theoretical results observed. addition, constant friction factor demonstrated strong effect relative extrusion pressure.
